It gives me great pleasure in addressing you all once again, through this new initiative – The E- Magazine. With an eye on the growing need for minimum paper consumption along with the hugely tech savvy society, who are glued, more to the digital media than the print medium, we thought it apt to come out with the magazine in this format. Our relentless focus on vision, innovation and execution have reaped rich dividends, with our students continuing to excel in versatile fields.
It’s so heartening that my teachers persevere to bring out the best in students and are constantly in quest to learn the nuances of modern day education that poses innumerable challenges.
I am equally indebted to our ever- encouraging parents who have never shied away in providing us all the encouragement, support and good will for the smooth functioning of the school.
Wish you all good luck!

Dear Parents, teacher and students,
In the contemporary world of machines and gadgets I would like to bring your attention to understand the meaning of education.
I feel there is no competition between human beings and machines. Machines will always remain a supportive and helping tool for mankind. Machines must be considered as for mankind, by mankind and of mankind. Yes, I do agree on the importance of a system of education which enables our children to be more productive, more efficient and more reliable, which are normally the qualities ascribed to machines. Our present system of education does not measure up to these three parameters for each child, at every stage of his / her cognitive development. Neither the teaching methodologies, nor the assessment system, is competency based. In my opinion a complete revamping of both teaching, learning pedagogy and assessment methods are the need of the hour. I am really happy to see numerous initiatives being taken up by CBSE, in this regard, that too in a span of one and half years ever since the new team, under the able guidance of Mrs. Anita Karwal has assumed office. I am equally surprised that these changes had not been initiated during such a long history of CBSE. We still have a long way to go as a convert response mechanism needs to be put in place which will help CBSE to monitor and coordinate with different schools and remediate on them.
Skill education must be made a part of the curriculum and children must be exposed deliberately to different situations pertaining to the testing and developing of skills such as self awareness, problem solving, decision making, empathy, critical and creative thinking and many more. The rote learning must be discouraged by putting in place competency based learning and evaluation system at every stage of schooling. The word ‘Education’ to me is not about how much a person or children knows, it’s about the application of whatever the person knows. Today, when I ask teachers about what they teach, they often end up saying they teach Maths, Physics, Biology, Social Science etc. whereas actually all of us must teach the child not the subject. What I mean to say here is that our system of education must be ‘child centric’ not subject centric or classroom bound time table centric. If I have to teach the child, I will teach him the way he understands, not the way I want him to understand. It makes a lot of difference at the end as my whole pedagogy evolves from and revolves around the child. Present generation is a Google generation. They are exposed to a vast digital world where many a times they gather information and knowledge at the speed of light. What we need to teach is the application part of that plethora of knowledge.
I often see children not attending their classes regularly in different subjects. Many of my co-principals consider this as a side effect of coaching culture which is mushrooming all around us, but I feel this as a warning bell for all of us. It is actually a consequence of a heavily loaded subject based teaching system in our school where everybody is busy in finishing the syllabus and they don’t even realise that they end up finishing the child in the process.
It’s high time that we replace the present education system with a competency based child centric system of education which not only generates efficient human beings but also helps to invent machines which are more useful and environment friendly.
I wish you all good luck and happy schooling.

Air lets our living planet breathe—it's the mixture of gases that fills the atmosphere, giving life to the plants and animals that make Earth such a vibrant place. Air pollution is a gas (or a liquid or solid dispersed through ordinary air) released in a big enough quantity to harm the health of people or other animals, kill plants or stop them growing properly, damage or disrupt some other aspect of the environment (such as making buildings crumble), or cause some other kind of nuisance (reduced visibility, perhaps, or an unpleasant odor).
As we discovered in the last section, air pollution means different problems at different scales—in other words, it's not one single problem but many different ones. Solving a problem like passive smoking (how one person's cigarette smoke can harm other people's health) is very different to tackling a problem like global warming, though both involve air pollution and they do have some things in common (both problems, for example, require us to think about how our behavior can affect other people in the short and long term and to act more considerately). Generally, air pollution is tackled by a mixture of technological solutions, laws and regulations, and changes in people's behavior.
